Homemade Plant Based Burger

Happy Tuesday! It has definitely been a minute. We added another addition to the family (baby # 5), so we have been quite busy with a newborn in the household. My husband as been cooking even more these days. He decided to make a plant-based burger and it was really good.

Reminder, eating healthier does not have to be expensive. He literally took a can of chickpeas and a can of black beans and make some burgers!! Have you ever eaten somewhere and thought to yourself, “I can make this at home”. Yes, we have had those moments. A few weeks prior to my husband making these burgers, we went to a spot (while I was pregnant) where they sell black bean/veggie burgers and it was not the best experience, so we decided to just make some ourselves. We make our own, but it was a minute since we did.

Now I was not in the kitchen when he made the patties, but I do know most of ingredients used. In addition to the chickpeas and black bean, he added shredded carrots, Italian breadcrumbs and some seasonings so it was fairly simple. You can be as creative as you like when it comes to these, add addition veggies such as maybe corn or even spinach.

After forming patties, place in freezer for a little bit to help then firm up. Then get a skillet, add a little oil and cook as you would realize patties. Once brown and heated on one side, flip to the other side. Serve on favorite bun and add your favorite toppings! Enjoy.
