Tasty Tuesday Tip (Super-food-Spinach)

Hey Everybody! Today I will just share a super food that I love to eat and add to lots of dishes. That super food is SPINACH!!! Dark green leafy vegetables are loaded with nutrients such as folate, calcium and iron! I love to use dark greens instead of regular lettuce. That is an easy way to get some green leafy vegetables in your diet. If you have kids like I do, sneaking this super food into dishes is a great way for them to eat it without knowing that they are!!! For instance, when eating a sandwich, why not add spinach to that sandwich instead of iceberg lettuce? The darker the green, the more nutrients you will receive. Other tips for adding leafy veggies to meals:

  • Add to pasta dishes
  • Use in sauces such as spaghetti sauce or chili
  • Rice Recipes
  • Green Smoothies
  • Salads
  • Homemade Popsicle green smoothie

 Dark green leafy vegetables are full of fiber and nutrients which may be instrumental in preventing certain chronic diseases.They also contain high levels of anti-inflammatory compounds known as carotenoids, which may protect against certain types of cancer.
